Das "El Cimarrón Ensemble" wurde 1999 auf Anregung der "Junge Kultur Hallein" hin gegründet. Der Verein finanzierte die Einstudierung sowie die ersten drei Auftritte der Formation. Die damalige Besetzung setzte sich folgendermaßen zusammen: Werner Bind (Bariton), Francesca Canali (Flöte), Christina Schorn (Gitarre) Ivan Mancinelli (Schlagzeug) und Michael Kerstan, Assistent von Hans Werner Henze (Regie).

2004 hat sich ein neues Mitglied eingefunden: Gundl Aggermann (Flöte). 2005 kollaborierte das Ensemble mit Angelo de Leonardis (Bassbariton). Seit 2006 ist Robert Koller der neue Sänger der Gruppe.

Auf den großen Erfolg in Hallein hin erfolgte schließlich die Einladung seitens der Salzburger Festspiele, im Rahmen der Festspieleröffnung (Juli 1999) in der Salzburger Felsenreitschule aufzutreten.

Des weiteren folgten Aufführungen an der Kammeroper Tübingen, am Theater Nürnberg, im Rahmen des Festivals Aspekte in Salzburg, beim NDR in Hamburg (75 Jahrfeier H.W.Henze), beim Gitarrenfestival in Monopoli (Süditalien), etc...

2007 wird die CD-Einspielung des Ensembles bei Wergo erscheinen.

The "El Cimarrón Ensemble" has been founded in 1999 thanks to the incitement of the "Junge Kultur Hallein". The association has financed the whole production of the opra as well as the first three performances of the ensemble. The former group was formed by: Werner Bind (baritone), Francesca Canali (flute), Christina Schorn (guitar), Ivan Mancinelli (percussion), and Michael Kerstan, assistant of Hans Werner Henze (stage direction).

In the year 2004, a new member has joined the ensemble: Gundl Aggermann (flute). In 2005, the group has collaborated with Angelo de Leonardis (bass-baritone). Since 2006, Robert Koller is the new singer of the ensemble.

Thanks to the big success in Hallein in 1999, the ensemble received an invitation of the Salzburg Festival, in order to perform the opera within the framework of the festival opening (July, 1999) at the Felsenreitschule Salzburg.

Furthermore the four musicians appeared in numerous representations at the Kammeroper Tübingen, at the Theater Nürnberg, at the Festival Aspekte in Salzburg, at the NDR in Hamburg (75 th birthday of H.W.Henze), at the guitar festival in Monopoli (Apulia), etc...

In 2007, the new CD-production of the "El Cimarrón Ensemble" will be released by the label Wergo.

L'Ensemble nasce nel 1999 ad Hallein su iniziativa della Junge Kultur Hallein che promuove la formazione del gruppo e le successive rappresentazioni. L'Ensemble è attualmente costituito da musicisti di varia nazionalità: Christina Schorn (Chitarra - Austria), Gundl Aggermann (Flauto - Austria), Ivan Mancinelli (Percussioni - Italia), Robert Koller (Svizzera) e si avvale della regia di Michael Kerstan (Germania), già assistente del M° H. W. Henze. In seguito al notevole successo ottenuto nella città di Hallein, nel 1999 l'Ensemble è ingaggiato per il concerto inaugurale del Festival di Salisburgo (luglio 1999, Felsenreitschule, Salisburgo).

Nello stesso anno ha anche occasione di lavorare l'intera composizione con lo stesso M° Hans Werner Henze.

L' "El Cimarròn Ensemble" rimarrà molto legato al nome ed alla persona del M° Henze, tanto da essere invitato come gruppo ufficiale per rappresentare questa specifica composizione nella città di Amburgo, in occasione dei festeggiamenti per i 75 anni del compositore, presso la Radio della Germania del nord (NDR).

I successi dell' Ensemble lo portano a ricevere numerosi inviti, fra i quali spiccano: Salisburgo, dove ha luogo il prestigioso festival di musica contemporanea Aspektee ; Norinberga, dove ha occasione di esibirsi presso il Teatro stabile. Il gruppo annovera inoltre collaborazioni con la "Tübinger Kammeroper".

Nel 2004 il gruppo è autorizzato dal M° Henze alla registrazione di un nuovo CD contenente alcune modifiche apportate dallo stesso compositore al pezzo e mai stampate.

Nell'aprile 2005 il gruppo ha eseguito "El Cimarrón" per il Conservatorio di Musica di Monopoli (BA) nel quadro della 5^ mostra di liuteria chitarristica.

Nell'estate del 2005 l'ensemble ha registrato in prima assoluta in lingua inglese il CD del'opera con il baritono Angelo de Leonardis, la produzione è in uscita nell'anno 2007 per la casa discografica Wergo.
